The purpose of the webinar was to inform and engage CSOs regarding the Notice of Intent to develop regulations under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA 1999) for formaldehyde emission standards for composite wood products, to help reduce exposure to formaldehyde emissions from certain wood products produced domestically or imported into Canada.
The webinar presented a high level overview of formaldehyde including sources, exposure, risks, current Indoor Air Quality Guidelines, and the USEPA Formaldehyde Standards for Composite Wood Products Act.
Webinar participants provided comments on what they would like to see addressed in the new regulations being developed on formaldehyde emissions standards from composite wood products. The comments were collated and forwarded to the Chemicals Management Plan (CMP3)
Webinar participants were encouraged to participate in the upcoming (Summer 2017) Government of Canada webinar on formaldehyde emission standards from composite wood products.
