The purpose of the webinar, presented by the Canadian Network for Human Health and the Environment, was to inform and engage Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) regarding the regulations to reduce the emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from Canada’s oil and gas sector. The “Regulations Respecting Reduction in the Release of VOCs – Petroleum Sector (VOC Regulations)” were published, on May 25, 2017, in the Canada Gazette for a 60 day comment period.

The webinar presented an overview of the proposed regulations and the comments and responses generated from past consultations with industry, provincial and municipal governments and Indigenous peoples.

Comments on the regulations, made by webinar participants, were collated and will be sent to the Chemicals Management Plan (CMP).
